SCADA SCREEN — LV BREAKERS MONITORING & CONTROL

// the_challenge

The problem we solved.

Large industrial plants and commercial buildings have power rooms containing multiple LV breakers — Air Circuit Breakers (ACBs), Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs) — each feeding a different plant section or tenant floor. Operators typically need to walk into the live power room to check breaker status, read energy meter displays one-by-one, or manually trip a breaker in a fault condition. This is time-consuming, exposes personnel to live equipment unnecessarily and provides no consolidated view of energy consumption.

Our LV Breakers Control System connects up to 25 breakers and their associated energy meters to a central PLC via Modbus communication. A SCADA workstation presents all breaker states, metered values and power quality parameters on a single screen. Operators can issue open or close commands to ACBs from the SCADA workstation — the PLC validates each command against interlock conditions before routing it to the breaker, ensuring safe operation at all times.

// capabilities

What the system does.

25-Breaker Capacity

The standard system supports up to 25 ACBs, MCCBs and energy meters on a single Modbus network. Capacity can be expanded further with additional communication modules.

Remote ACB Control

Operators can open or close ACBs from the SCADA workstation. The PLC routes commands only after validating that conditions are safe — preventing spurious or conflicting operations.

Energy Metering

Per-feeder kWh, kVAh, kVArh and maximum demand are read from each energy meter and logged continuously. Feeder-wise consumption data enables accurate cost allocation.

Power Quality Monitoring

Voltage (per phase and L-L), current, power factor, THD and frequency are displayed live and trended. Deviations from acceptable limits trigger on-screen and SMS alarms.

Demand Management

Aggregate maximum demand across all feeders is calculated in real time and compared against the sanctioned contract demand. Alerts warn operators before the contract limit is breached.

Reports & Audit Trail

Automated daily and monthly energy reports per feeder. Every breaker operation — local or remote — is logged with timestamp, operator ID and before/after state for compliance records.
